On the 16th October 2025, myself and my mother went to go and watch Moulin Rouge, and let me tell you, it was PHENOMENAL!!!
If you haven’t watched it before, make sure you watch the movie or read up on it before hand as you will be in for some heartbreak. It follows a young French entertainer called Satine and her American lover Christian, and what unfold will leave you wanting more.
We were lucky enough to watch this at Birmingham Hippodrome where they had the windmill within the theatre, lucky us. The theme was red, and I had wished I had dressed up in something more showgirl rather than casual wear, as I believe I would have enjoyed myself more.
I did however love the theatre production as they played contemporary songs and the storyline, while sensual and sassy at the beginning, was so intoxicating, sad and beautiful, I wish it did not end in the way it did, but it was such a well rounded musical. The songs were great, the costumes were delightful and the scenery was amazing.
If I had to rate this, I would give this 4.5 stars out of 5, it was just that good.
I have loved doing this review, and I am so glad I have the platform to write my thoughts and feelings about this production. I hope you enjoyed reading this review too.
Lots of love,
N xx
